Mighty Mistral

2001 - 2017

“Buck” arrived at the Equine Welfare Society in 2008 as part of an animal control seizure. He was extremely thin and mistreated. Buck recovered his weight and health but was unable to become a riding horse because of Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Desmitis (DSLD).

Our handsome friend raced only once and placed dead last, beaten by 44 lengths in his only career start at Charles Town Racetrack. Buck was goofy, sweet and not very fast. Buck will always be remembered as a handsome, kind horse who loved living out and keeping in close sight of "his" mare, Hope and with his best friend Palisander. Due to decreasing quality of life, Mighty Mistral was euthanized in late winter of 2017.
